COURSE TITLE : Internet Programming using HTML
CREDIT HOURS : 3.0 Semester Hours
CO/PREREQUISITES : CPT-114 (or equivalent) with a grade of "C" or better
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course covers designing Internet pages and applications for personal/business use, writing the required program code in
languages such as HTML, JAVA, and VRML, testing and debugging programs, uploading and maintaining Internet pages
and applications. Terminology associated with web page design and good planning/designing theory are presented.
Upon successful completion of this course, the Student should be competent to perform the following:
- Plan, Design and Create web pages and web sites
- Demonstrate fluency in HTML (HyperText Markup Language)
- Identify and Correct problems in web pages
- Test web pages for proper function and usability
- Upload web page applications

COMPUTING RESOURCES:
The Student must have access to a computer with Internet access in order to complete this course. In addition to this, the Student must also:
- Have a working email address that identifies your name. Example: JohnSmith@Hotmail.com;
- Broadband or DSL Internet Service is recommended due to the size of some of the multimedia presentations used in the course -
if you are using Dial-Up, please notify me and we will make alternate arrangements to provide you with the presentations;
- Use Internet Explorer 6 or higher as your browser;
- Download AOL Instant Messenger (unless you are already an AOL user);
- Create an AOL screen name in the format JohnDoeNETC or JaneDoeNETC;
- Attend and participate in announced Chatroom sessions.
AOL Instant Messenger will be our platform for online chats/discussions. The Instructor will also provide the Student with a
schedule indicating times that he will be available for "real-time" assistance, either by telephone or by visiting the instructor's
office on the Cheraw NETC campus.

GRADING:
Part 1: Textbook:
Tests will be given on the textbook material and handouts posted on the website during the term. These tests will
be primarily objective with some short problems depending on the materials being covered.
Part 2: Projects:
In order to fully comprehend the subject matter, a variety of hands-on projects will be assigned to
cover most topics.
GRADING SCALE:
A 100-93
B 92-85
C 84-78
D 77-70
F 69 and below
There will be no makeup tests given without prior approval and notification. A grade of "F" will be recorded for any test missed.
If a problem arises, a test may be taken early at an agreed upon time. All projects will be given a due date. TEN (10) points will be subtracted
from the grade for late projects. No project will be accepted more than 1 week later than assigned.
A grade of "F" will be assigned the work if the time schedule is not met.
ATTENDANCE:
Since this is an on-line course, the Student is responsible for allocating the same number of hours
they would have put into a traditional classroom-setting course (3 hours of instruction - minimum
of 3 hours outside time) to successfully complete this course. The Student is encouraged to contact
the Instructor with any problems encountered early in the term so that guidance may be provided to
the Student in a timely manner.
For participation and attendance records, you MUST e-mail your instructor a minimum of ONCE a week
to indicate that you are actively participating in the course.

Please Note: If you receive financial assistance through the Veterans Administration, we are required to make contact
with you each week. If you are a recipient of VA funding, please notify me immediately.
NETC WITHDRAWAL POLICY:
If the Student wishes to withdraw from the class, the STUDENT must complete a Withdrawal form
(please contact your local advisor or On-Line liasion at your Host Institution). The Student will receive a grade of "W"
if the work completed to date is acceptable; a grade of "WF" will be assigned if the work is unacceptable.
CLASS POLICY:
Any acts of impropriety or collusion during testing or projects will be unacceptable. If such an event occurs, the
Student will receive a grade of "F" for the project or test.
WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS:
All documentation MUST be typed using either Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or WordPad. The Instructor reserves the
right to refuse any paper which is messy or unreadable or appears to be copied / plagiarized. Incorrect grammar and
spelling errors will be noted. Papers will be graded on the basis of content, organization, grammar, spelling, and neatness.
Papers containing any plagiarized material will result in a grade of "F" on the paper.
